12 Days Old | Maryland Newborn Photographer

Another newborn for a new year.  What a joy it was to spend a morning with this little one and his proud new parents.  He was such an easygoing baby, and so charming.  I felt like I could have stayed and taken his picture all day.  Plus, his parents are from the south and I had such fun discovering that we had a few mutual friends.  DC can be such a small town.  I had a wonderful time, thank you!

New | Alexandria, VA baby photographer

This was my first session of the new year, and what a wonderful way to start my year.  This sweet little girl was the most expressive newborn I have photographed.  It seemed when she was awake she was constantly posing and working the camera.  I think mom and dad may have a future model on their hands.  It made my job so easy.  Thanks for a great morning!

This newborn session is from earlier this week.  There is nothing sweeter than a holiday photo session with new parents and their adorable baby girl.  Merry Christmas!

Six Months | Northern Virginia Family Photographer

Just a quick blog post as I am in the midst of editing last weekend’s sessions.  These are some of my favorites from a session last weekend.  This little baby had the sweetest disposition.  She was so happy and laid-back.  She made it very easy for me!  Thanks for a great afternoon.

Run! | Northern Virginia Family Photographer

It had been a year and a half since I’d seen this little guy.  The last time we met he was surronded by balloons and having his first taste of cake.  Now he is walking around on his own, talking with such a playful personality, and asserting his independence.  You know, being a typical two-year-old.  It was a fun morning at River Farm chasing him around.  Once he finally found the little house we slowed down a bit.  The children’s garden there is always a fun place to explore.  Here are some of my favorites from the morning.

Ready, Set, Go! | Alexandria, VA Photographer

From the moment I walked throught the front door, it was full speed ahead.  It was busy, but in such a good way.  This family was joyful.  There was much laughter.  The kind that you feel in your whole body.  I loved spending time with this family.  I could feel the love that they had for each other and for their little boy.  What a great way to spend the morning.

More Old Town! | Alexandria, VA family photographer

I love meeting in Old Town for sessions any time of the year, but I think fall is when it truly is the most lovely.  The yellow and orange leaves falling on the brick and cobblestone are beautifu.  Add a fun (and beautiful!) family, and it is the perfect recipe for a great portrait session.  Here are a few of my many favorites from our morning last weekend.

Fun in Old Town | Alexandria, VA family photographer

As soon as I saw the pink Hunter boots I knew it was going to be a fun shoot.  We tromped all over Old Town and had a blast.  There were many, many favorites but I couldn’t blog them all.  Here are some of them.

Editing | Northern Virginia Family Photographer

I’m in the middle of editing this family session.  This picture caught my eye.  It isn’t technically perfect.  But it is real life.  A moment.  I feel like it captures the feeling of being a mom.  Often it feels like kids pull you in ten different directions, but sometimes they pile up on you, wanting to be as close as can be.  I love those moments.  They aren’t always quiet.  Sometimes there are lots of giggles, or yelling as they tackle you.  This session was supposed to be just the kids, but Mom jumped in a few.  I’m so glad she did.

Occuquan Regional Park portraits | Northern Virginia Family Photographer

This is the second time I’ve been to Occuquan Regional Park for a portrait session, and each time I have loved working there.  In addition to the lovely backdrop of the water and woods, there are some brick buildings and a large old kiln that provide some lovely textural backgrounds.  These two kiddos were a delight to photograph.  They were so cheery and smiley for the entire session.  Thanks for a great morning at the park!
