Memorial Day | Northern Virginia Photographer

Thank you to the men and women who have served in our armed forces, who sacrificed so much for our freedoms.  Let us not forget.

(These images were taken during a funeral at Arlington National Cemetery last fall.   It was one of the most profound and moving events I have photographed.  I was honored to be a part of it.)

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope you spend the day with those you hold dear.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

And every post should have a picture.  So here’s an image from a family session last month at Ft. Hunt Park.  I just love the sibling interaction in this one.  I’d love to know what her big brother is telling her. :)

Happy Halloween

Have a fun (and safe) night!

My new personal trainer…

…muse, friend, companion, puppy.  I was warned that having a puppy was like having a new baby.  Yeah right, I thought.  Hah!  In so many ways it is worse.  This guy has so much energy, loves to chew on EVERYTHING, and I can’t put him in an exersaucer to keep him entertained.  :)  The great thing is he loves his crate, is learning to listen, and is overall a joyful addition to the family.  He is inspiring me to get out and run more (we got to put that energy to use!), and the kiddos adore him.  Needless to say he’s been keeping me busy and away from blogging.  I’ve got so many wonderful sessions to share.  They’ll be coming right up!

Smocks

Thanks to Daily Candy I want one of these for my apron collection. Wouldn’t it make for a fun hostess gift?

Facebook | Northern Virginia Photographer

I’m on Facebook and would love to keep up with you there (hint, hint).  You can find my business page here. If you aren’t on Facebook I highly encourage you to check it out.  I’ve found long-lost friends from elementary school and am able to keep up with family and friends scattered all over the world.  I do warn you it is highly addictive though!  :) Enjoy! –Sally

Something fun

I love this poster.  I have been waiting for the DC version and checked back and it was suddenly there. You can get it here. I love the graphic quality of it. Now I’ll wait for the Northern Virginia one…… ;)

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope your day is filled with good food, family and friends, and sharing warm memories. I am so thankful for all the blessings in my life. Enjoy your day, Sally

p.s. more blog posts from recent sessions coming soon!

To those who served and those that are serving now…

…Thank you for all you have given. I had a session at the Lincoln Memorial this morning and it was such a pleasure to see so many Veterans out at the monument. As I arrived I saw two bald eagles flying overhead. They did not go unnoticed by the Veterans who stopped and stared at them, enjoying the view. It was such a beautiful site, so many symbols of our freedom all in one place. Happy Veteran’s Day. –Sally

Art on the Avenue

Art on the Avenue is one of my favorite fall events. It is held annually in Del Ray on Mt. Vernon Avenue. They close down a good portion of the Avenue and you can stroll through stalls finding all kinds of arts and crafts, food vendors, and local community groups. There is plenty of fun for my kiddos and I I like to get a head start on my Christmas shopping. If you are in the metro DC area come on out to Del Ray this Saturday!  Come early, it gets pretty crowded.
