NYC | Heather & Steve

After we did our sessions, Heather and I met up with her husband Steve before I caught my train home. We did some quick photos on the street in Tribeca. We had so much fun playing around this really cool doorway. Steve had such a great sense of humor, he had me cracking up so much! It was a great way to end the day. Heather, thanks again for a wonderful day in NYC! –Sally

I also grabbed a quick shot of Heather working…

Inspired | Hope Revolution

I saw this on my friend Rebecca’s blog. The premise behind the “movement” is to leave encouraging notes around your city/town/area for random people to find. I love this idea and hope to leave some notes and maybe hopefully someday find some too! Who wouldn’t love finding a little surprise note in an unexpected place? What a great idea. –Sally

NYC | Family Session #4

This was our last session of the day. Heather and I met this wonderful family at a park in Tribeca near their home. Their daughter was just lovely–so happy and she had the most gorgeous hair and eyes. They were such a fun way to wrap up our sessions in NYC. Enjoy! –Sally

I love the pure joy in her expression in this one!

I had to grab a couple of Mom and Dad by themselves. They were so cute!

…And look who came sneaking into my shot! :)

Tagged!

So I’ve been tagged by fellow DC-area photographer Julia MacInnis in a little blog-game by sharing some favorite, yet embarassing songs. Here are the rules:

1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 5 songs you are embarrassed to admit to others you like and tell why.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Okay, here goes!

1. What Goes Around by Justin Timberlake — I really am not a fan of Justin Timberlake, but I just love the beat of this song. It is in my running songs playlist.

2. Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega — This song was so very popular when my husband and I first started dating that it makes me nostalgic for those days.

3. Smoky Mountain Rain by Ronnie Milsap — Blame all those hours of country music my dad played when we did family road trips. Now when it comes on the radio I crank it up and sing! Just ask my embarassed husband! :)

4. Witchita Lineman by Glen Campbell — See #3

5. Let the River Run by Carla Simon — Good, sappy chick music.

Okay, I’m tagging Carmen , Karyn Kayle, Julie Rivera, Rebecca Peters, Melissa Pepin, Shannon Montez, and Kim & Niki! :)

NYC | Family Session #3

The third family we met up with consisted of new parents and a sweet little six-week old. This little girl was so darling. She was so tiny and had the most gorgeous eyes. Enjoy! –Sally

I caught a quick smile while she was getting changed into her dress.

She got a little fussy in the middle of the shoot. I love capturing baby cries and capturing as many of their emotions at this age as I can.

NYC | Family Session #2

This shoot was so much fun. It was supposed to mainly be about the baby brother, but big sister (who was five) kept stealing the show with her fun personality. I think little brother was able to hold his own though, he was so very cute. I loved his cheeks and sweet eyes. He was so calm during the session and even managed to sleep through part of it! Thanks for such a fun time. –Sally

Big brother came along to hang out and Heather and I managed to get him in a few shots too.

NYC | Family Session #1

This was the first session that Heather and I did in Central Park. It was so much fun photographing these two sisters and their mom and dad. The older sister was so lively and I couldn’t get enough of her blue eyes and gorgeous curls. The baby was such a little doll and so laid-back. They were both such cuties! Enjoy –Sally

New York City

A few images from Sunday (still working on editing the portraits)….

Weekend

I had a wonderfully busy weekend. Saturday I spent the day assisting Andrea at a wedding in DC that had the most wonderful ceremony music I have ever heard. They had a 20 person choir performing and the bride walked down the aisle to a beautiful rendition of “Amazing Grace”. It was incredibly moving and beautiful. It was hard not to get caught up in the emotions of the day. On Sunday I had a whirlwind day in NYC. I joined Heather Forbes for some family shoots in Central Park and one session in Tribeca. I can’t wait to share the images after I’m done editing! I heard it was rainy all day here in DC, but we had sunshine and cool breezes and cute kiddos. It was such a fun and busy day. Here is a little teaser of a quick shot I took of Heather and her husband Steve. After the shoots he met up with us for drinks before I caught my train home. Heather, thanks for a wonderful day in New York! –Sally

Baby Shower Details

Another thing I love about the South: they really know how to throw a good shower. My dear friend Tanya hosted a baby shower for our friend Kelley. She thought of details I never would have even thought of doing. The crystal, silver, and china was brought out. Ribbons and charms were tied on the napkins around the silverware. Delicate cherry blossom branches were in vases in the kitchen. There were charming Vera Bradley gifts for the guests. The food was abundant and delicious (note to self, I need to get that chicken recipe!). And of course there was punch! I do love Southern parties! Here are a couple of detail shots from the shower. Enjoy! –Sally
